Tips and Trends in Swimwear This Season

Summer has finally arrived and that means it’s time to break out your shorts, sandals, sunglasses, and of course, swimwear. This season, there are many fabulous swimsuit trends that feature bold and exciting details, like graphic prints and fringe. Glamour has compiled a list of their most important “Dos and Don’ts” in swimwear right now, offering tips and style advice for a day at the beach.

One of the trends from Glamour’s do’s and don’ts list is color blocking. Color-blocked clothes have been cropping up on many a runway over the last few seasons, and now the trend can be found in swimwear. Glamour suggests mixing different prints to fashion an even bolder look, and explains that darker bands of color often create a slimming effect.

Another huge trend in swimwear right now are one-piece suits with cutouts. Glamour describes this style of bathing suit as “sexy and edgy,” and how cut-outs in one-piece suits are a great alternative to a bikini. The list warns against wearing high-heeled shoes with this look; flat sandals will compliment the bathing suit nicely, without pushing the style too far over the edge.

Retro swimwear styles are also really on trend for this season. High-waisted bikini bottoms are really flattering, as well as feminine, and are great for those who don’t want to bare all in a teeny suit. Retro-inspired one-piece suits are also very fashionable right now. Glamour insists that one-pieces sometimes have a reputation for being frumpy, but that suits inspired by retro silhouettes and prints are one of the best trends in swimwear right now.
