The much-anticipated Tory Burch Sport collection looks like it is finally coming! According to some industry insiders, fashion designer Tory Burch’s eagerly awaited answer to yoga, tennis, golf, and running apparel may be hitting stores in the very near future.
After having previously announcing they would release Tory Sport in 2015, it appears that Tory Burch may be launching Tory Sport at a new concept store in New York City on Fifth Avenue in NYC’s famously trendy Flatiron District, according to Fashion Times.
Tory Burch is a company that offers classic, clean-lined, incredibly stylish clothes for women. The company combines a unique mixture of fashion and business savvy, with members like William Ford of General Atlantic on its board of directors, which has led Tory Burch to great success.
Tory Burch herself is a big fan of tennis, skiing, and others sports, which makes it no surprise that she would consider launching a sports/leisure line. In fact, in July 2014 Burch launched a line of accessories designed to customize FitBits.
Tory Sport was first announced back in September of 2013 when Gigi Mortimer, who has held impressive positions as design director of accessories at Vera Wang and design director of women’s accessories at Ralph Lauren, joined the team to help develop the collection.
While Burch has been mum about the possibility of a new location on Fifth Avenue, reading between the lines shows that this will likely be formally announced very soon. When asked about the reported location, Burch said, “We cannot confirm at this time.” To add to the intrigue, back in December 2014, Luxottica Group SpA renewed its contract with Tory Burch. Luxottica, which has been distributing Burch’s sun and prescription eyewear globally for the past six years, and Tory Burch are now legally obligated to work together until the end of 2024.
I don’t know about you, but a brick-and-mortar store dedicated to Tory Sport sounds like the perfect summer treat! What do you think about the possibility of a Tory Sport concept store in NYC?
